AutoCAD
AutoCAD is the combination of two words
Auto and & CAD
Auto Mean Automatic
CAD mean Computer Aided Drafting
Drafting
Drafting is the term used to refer to the systematic representation and dimensional specification of mechanical and architectural structures. Drafting is one of the key components involved for those that study architecture.
OR
When ever we draw any object by the help of approximate length then we are creating draftingThere are main two types of Drafting
- Map
- Drawing
When ever we draw any object by the help of Approximate length then we are working and creating Map
For example, Map of world
Drawings
When ever we draw any object by the help of Specific Measuring Unit then we are working and creating a drawing..
For Example, Drawing home..
AutoCAD
AutoCAD is a software application that is used for drafting or engineering design. The CAD in the term can stand for either Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Drafting and is used to assist architects and engineers to draw 2D or 3D drawings or models.

Comparison Between the different types of line
Line
Construction line
Polyline
Difference between line and poly line.
The lines and polylines are two objects with different properties in autocad. Through the Line command, every time you click, the part between two points is an independent unity, but the part between the first point and the last point consists of multiple separated independent unities.
You can select one line among them to edit.
However, through the Polylines command, they are always a unity which cannot be separated. You can only operate the whole unity when executing attribute edition (e.g. picture 1, when specify object, what the line specifies is only a part of it , while the polylines is the whole of it.)
The Line command can only be used to draw lines and it is easy and simple to operate. But, through the Polylines command, not only can you draw lines, but also you can draw arcs, besides, you can execute relevant operations [ Arc/Close/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width] to the menu.
You can also close it or edit the lineweight etc. e.g. picture 2, you can draw a polyline with changing-lineweight lines and arcs.
